Douglas Lee is a Berlin based Graphic Designer and Illustrator. Born in Los Angeles California in 1976, he grew up drawing, surfing, skating, playing in punkbands,.. just about all of the notable facets of a 1980’s California life. His drawing and painting abilities would lead him to study at Art Center College of Design in Pasedena from 1994-1997, with no money for tuition, he was forced to drop out and take a job in the school library. The job would prove a blessing as it was there amongst the shelves he discovered forgotten volumes of design, illustration, advertising magazines of the past, rekindling his love for the Better Days’, he set his sights on reviving the era of his youth. His retro styled graphics, still fresh at the time would lead him into T-shirt, flyers and skate graphics around town. In 2002 he made his way to New York City where he landed a job at the mighty Brand New School, one of the most exciting motion graphics studios of the time, where he spent over 2 years as a fulltime Designer. Douglas eventually opted for the freelancer’s life, making his way around most of New York’s many motion graphics studios, whilst building up his personal illustration style and connections to the music and print industry. In 2008 he joined the original roster of his friend Alexis LeTan’s flagship illustration agency Monsieur Lágent based in Paris, and through these years he built up his name as one of the most exciting modern and nostalgic designers of his time and continues through today.
